Your first session,
in plain English.

  1. You'll be greeted by a coachNot by a sign on a door. We open the gym 15 minutes before class for a reason. Arrive in that window and a coach will take you round the floor.
  2. Bring trainers, a bottle, a towelThat's it. Lockers are free and code-set, so no padlock. Showers run hot and there's a hairdryer if you need to go straight to work.
  3. You'll lift at your levelCoaches set the load with you, not for you. Heavy is relative, and we'd rather you finish the session strong than chase a number on day one.
  4. Programming is the same for everyoneFrom a first-timer to a 200kg deadlifter, the movements and the structure are the same. Only the load and the scaling change.
  5. You can swap, pause, or cancel any timeNo 12-week tie-in. Membership pauses for up to 30 days a year. Classes can be moved up to 6 hours before they start.
Most members joined without a lifting background. Coaches default to scaled versions of every movement and only progress you when the technique is solid. The 1:1 add-on is also there if you want a private session before joining a group class.
Free street parking on Sidworth Street and Greenwood Road after 18:30 and at weekends. Mare Street has 90-minute paid bays during the day. Bike racks under the railway arch directly outside, covered and well lit.
London Fields (Overground) is a 5-minute walk. Hackney Central is 8 minutes. Bethnal Green (Central line) is a 12-minute bus on the 254 or 388, which stops outside.
No free trial, by design. A first class on its own doesn't show what training here is like, so we ask for £30 and give you three coached sessions across three weeks. Members who came in on the intro pack stay an average of 14 months.
Talk to Sam before your first session. He's a working physio, and he'll either build you a return-to-training plan or refer you to someone who can. Either way, no membership starts until you're cleared.

"Walked in having not lifted in five years. Tomi rebuilt my squat in three weeks. The programming actually makes sense and the coaching is honest about what I'm ready for."

Naomi K.Member since 2023

"The Engine sessions are properly hard, but I leave feeling like I trained, not like I was punished. The 45 minute format also fits my lunch break, which the chain gyms in the area never managed."

Daniel R.Member since 2022

"I moved across the city specifically to stay at Roundhouse. The coaching ratio at peak times is genuinely 1:10 or better, and Lara's Cross Train sessions on a Saturday are the best workout I do all week."
